About our school

Michelago Primary School is located along the Monaro Highway, approximately halfway between Canberra and Cooma. This school is part of a small, rural village with potential to expand, given the village's close proximity to Canberra and Queanbeyan.

At the moment, the school supports two multi-stage classrooms. Michelago Primary School is a wonderful, friendly, small school with a supportive parent community and great students. Our students are offered a broad range of educational opportunities in a safe, caring, country environment with the added benefit of each student being treated and acknowledged as an individual.

Our school offers a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy programs as well as the performing and visual arts. All classrooms have access to the Internet and technology is integrated into teaching and learning programs. Students are offered a wide range of sporting activities through the year.

Professional learning of the staff is aimed at improving and maximising the learning of all students with a focus on quality assessment and feedback.

Student welfare has always been given priority and hence the school focuses on building a strong school/community relationship between all parties. The school's welfare and discipline policy is based on the Positive Behaviour for Success Program aimed at improving learning outcomes for all students by establishing common values and expectations.

These values include:

  • Be your very best,
  • Be Respectful,
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Safe.

We have been very fortunate to have a new library established as part of the Federal Government's 'Building Education Revolution'. Our school community is very proud of this new addition to the school. The school grounds also include a multi-purpose playing court. Our staff are decided and happy to assist with all enquiries.

We wish to acknowledge the support our parents and local community members provide to our students and school. our small school relies on maintaining a positive, trusting, working relationship with our parents, staff, students and community.
